Weekly Update- Week of 05/15/17

IN COURT
05/15/17 – Groups A & C (Last night of SLPC for the year)
Note: We will be holding cases and interviewing new youth applicants for next year. We expect to be pretty busy and could use as many volunteers as we can get. If you’re in Group B please come too!

DRESS CODE REMINDER
As the weather warms up here’s a friendly reminder about the SLPC dress code for court. Bottom line- no shorts. 🙂 If you’re wearing shorts you will not be able to sit on panel and you will not receive credit hours.

Per the courthouse rules shorts, tank tops, and flip flops are prohibited. This applies to everyone in the courthouse- regardless of gender. Jeans are ok as are other pants and skirts. Remember… we want all volunteers to look professional when in court. Treat your position at SLPC as a job which expects you to wear a particular uniform.

DROP OFF/PICK UP AT THE COURTHOUSE
We’ve had some issues with people parking/stopping in front of the courthouse illegally for volunteer drop off/pick up on Monday nights. Vehicles are blocking UTA bus stops and stopping or parking along the red curb reserved exclusively for emergency vehicles. A letter with more info has been emailed to all volunteers. Please review it and pass it along to your parent/guardian if you are a youth volunteer who gets a ride to and from court.

ON THIS DAY
May 15, 1940 – McDonald’s opened its first restaurant. It was located in San Bernardino, California.
